When I finally got a chance to go ahead with Jordan trip, the first I did was to book a 2-night stay at the W Amman<\/a>. I did not want to pass on this beautiful and excentric property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Location<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The hotel is located in the new and sleek neighborhood of Al Abdalli. A brand new area ideal for walking and shopping enthusiasts. It’s a 45 minute to walk to Amman’s city centre, or a 10 minutes drive by taxi\/Uber.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I opted for the hotel private car service. I was picked-up at Queen Alia International Airport<\/a> arrivals hall and driven to the hotel in a luxurious Mercedes for 35 JOD ($50). Keep in mind that the airport is a solid 25km from the city centre. A taxi would’ve cost 10-15 JOD less. Also, I landed late in the evening, I didn’t have any JODs on me and was not in the mood to negotiate a rate with cabbies. I can assure you the limo service was worth it: got charged to my room and I earned 5x Marriott Bonvoy points on it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although riding within Amman is quite cheap within the city, it is very expensive to and from the airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Check-in<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Security is tight at the hotel entrance. As I made my way to the elevators, I walked through the Canyon hall which is inspired by the huge rock formation of Petra towards the Treasury. I was truly amazed by the architectural prowess. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Check-in was swift and efficient. The agent thanked me for being a loyal Platinum member and upgraded me to the W Suite, a large corner suite. He mentionned it was a smoking room. I was concerned about the smell but he assured me that the rooms are cleaned thoroughly and that I would not be disappointed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The W Suite<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The W Suite is a large corner suite. Just like the rest of the property, its design is W-centric with a flavor of local culture. As I entered the room, I noticed there was a lot of storage room for luggage, clothing and shoes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The king-size bed is very comfortable and the duvet made for a great night sleep after an exhausting 24h of flying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The TV set has a 55in LED screen and is placed between the living room and the sleeping area. I was able to turn the TV set whether I was in bed or sitting on the sofa. A very well thought out concept which allows to only use on screen while keeping the suite an open space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The +900 square feet suite featured a marble bathroom with the bathtub separate from the shower. The toilet is in a separate space with a bidet. Bathroom has double vanities with a makeup mirror section, also 2 robes and slippers were available. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adjacent to the bathroom is the living room which feature a work desk and a large sofa. Bottled water tea service and coffee maker are located next to the desk. I struggled with the coffee machine and was unable to make an espresso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Breakfast is wonderful at the W Amman<\/a>. Although the buffet looks smaller, appearances are deceptive. I noticed that guests from different countries were able to have their habitual breakfast food: the French had pastries, yogurts and other morning sugar bombs, the anglo-saxons has their fill of beans and sausages and the Arab had choice galore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The thing that impressed me was when the waiting staff offered to bring a typical Jordanian breakfast to our table. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Waiters and cooks came to our table and presented us each of the cooked dish. It was a first for me. Never have I been served with such warmth and attention by different staff members in the context of a breakfast buffet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The chef at Al Bustan Ritz-Carlton Muscat<\/a> did bring us maple syrup \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gym<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I had the chance to workout once during my 2-night stay. The gym has all the equipment one needs for weights, cardio and HIIT. Towels are available on a self-serve basis and were wrapped in plastic foil, thank you COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The music was a bit loud. That being said the gym and locker rooms were clean and nicely designed. Unfortunately, the swimming pool was closed for the winter season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Art at the W Amman<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Let’s not forget that W hotels are all about art and design. W Amman<\/a> does not disappoint. I came across beautiful pieces from the hotel entrance all the way to my room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As soon as yo make you enter the hotel, the hallway which leads to the elevators simulates the Canyon leading to Petra. The Canyon bathes in a red light which adds to the fascination as I walked in. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pieces of art work are more common on the 6th floor. That’s where the check-in desk , lounging areas and main restaurant are located. You cannot miss The Tree of Life!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verdict<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I’m glad I stayed at the W Amman<\/a>. A beautiful property, a pleasant and professional staff is all one can ask for. The hotel delivered on all of those. Also, I’m glad I opted for the private car service from the airport. A great value for so many reasons. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I will definitely book the W Amman next time I visit Jordan with the family. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
