Avios reward flights out of YVR – a sweet spot for Vancouverites

Amin Benzaza

British Airways Executive Club is Canada’s other significant frequent flyer program. Also known as the Avios program, it’s easy to earn points thanks to American Express and RBC Visa Avion & British Airways visa cards. Read my oneworld alliance guide to know more about its members and benefits.

Also, many oneworld airline members happen to fly in and out of Vancouver International Airport (YVR). It’s actually the highest number of oneworld airlines amongst major Canadian airports.

I want to share with your the carriers that offer great reward flights opportunities, particularly long haul flights.

American Airlines

Booking American Airlines to travel within the continent is a sweet spot in itself. I wrote a full article on how to tour the USA for less than $35.

Japan Airlines

Japan Airlines link Vancouver to Tokyo’s Narita International Airport. The carrier enjoys a high standing in terms of inflight service.

No one can resist a one way flight to Tokyo at 25,750 Avios + $ 50.91. A business class seat can be worth the 77,250 Avios + $ 50.91.

Great deals can be had with Cathay Pacific Asia Miles or AA AAdvantage Miles. However, earning those miles is more work. Therefore, Avios points do a great job thanks to the different earning sources I mentionned in the beginning of the article.
