As part of our Singapore trip with Qatar Airways , we chose to have a 24h layover in Doha. The airline offers hotel stays at great rates. I booked Al Najada Hotel Doha by Tivoli across from iconic Souq Waqif.
We landed in Doha at 0530 am, passed customs and grabbed a Karwa taxi. There are ATMs near the taxi area. So get some cash to pay for the cab ride and to tip hotel bellboy. Uber’s available but you’ll wait have to wait a while longer.
Al Najda Hotel Doha by Tivoli Location
The hotel is located the Msheireb district. It’s the historical downtown core of Doha that is being redeveloped through architecture: an area to visit for sure. The property is part of the Tivoli Hotels chain.
The 5-star hotel is located across the street from Doha’s iconic and central Souq Waqif. Also, it’s only a 15-minute drive from Hamad International Airport (DOH).
Check in
The check in process was quick. Since we had arrived very early in the morning, the room was not available. We went for breakfast at their restaurant Al Baraha then off to a walk in Msheireb.
By mid-morning, we got our key and made our way to the King size bedroom I had requested.

The King size bed room is spacious and luxurious. Nespresso coffee machine with capsules, water bottles were available complimentary. Also, we had bathrobes and slippers, they were practical for the afternoon swim at the pool.
The bathroom is very spacious. All kind of amenity kits were made available: dental, shaving and bath kits.
Dining
We had breakfast at Al Baraha restaurant. The breakfast buffet spread was impressive at a cost of QR60 (C$22) per adult. I highly recommend it.
Walking the hotel was very pleasant. I loved the fact that there were many lounges across the property. It’s a typical Arabian design which made the hotel homier yet luxurious.
Swimming pool
We went for a swim right before lunch. The setting is pleasant.
Service
The staff at the hotel was very pleasant. From the moment we set foot we were warmly greeted. The restaurant staff was smiling and glad we were here. Bellboy has a great attitude and security staff welcoming.

Verdict: Al Najada Hotel Doha by Tivoli
The hotel is a little gem in the Soup Waqif area. It’s in a quiet setting, with its own courtyard adjacent to a smaller intimate carpet and gold souq.
It’s very well located to and from the airport, but also to either walk the old Doha town or drive around the city’s many venues such as West Bay, Education City or Katara.
