I stumbled on the Naka Island located on an island that bears its name off Phuket. I’ll share at the end of this post how I used my Aeroplan miles on this great hotel stay. The property is part Starwood’s The Luxury Collection.
Getting to the Naka Island Phuket
The hotel provided a complimentary boat shuttle from Phuket to Naka island. We took a taxi to Ao Po Grand Marina. It’s on the eastern seaboard of Phuket. It wasn’t long before the boat arrived for the 2pm shuttle. The staff helped us with our luggage, offered cold bottled water and we sat down for departure.
Around the island
Since we had complimentary bicycles for our use, we were able to explore the island bit. A 10-minute bike ride would get you to the actual Naka small village. You can stroll on the beach or along its long pier.
How many Aeroplan miles I burned for this stay
I seldom use airline miles on hotel redemptions. But two reasons pushed me to go ahead with that decision. First, this was at the end of our trip and we wanted to spoil ourselves. Second, I had enough Aeroplan miles in my account for a free night. We weren’t going to travel anywhere for some time after our honeymoon.
It cost me 40,000 Aeroplan miles for one night stay. I paid cash for the second one. Was it worth it? Absolutely. At Less than $400 per night, luxury pool villa don’t come at that price anywhere else. I would do it again any time. The villa in itself was enough, we spent most of our time in the pool and chilling in the gardens and room. We didn’t explore the resort amenities that much. Here is another example where I used my airline miles on a week long hotel stay.
