As we plan our summer vacations, we decided to go back to Prince Edward County, Ontario. This would be our 3rd time in less than 6 years. But do you avoid those expensive B&Bs?
Also known as Sandbanks, it’s become our favorite Canadian vacation destination. However, we cannot afford those beautiful Victorian-style B&Bs at $300 a night, especially when we’re with our 2 small kids. As much as they are gorgeous on photos, they are not that comfortable.
Therefore, we spotted our usual hotel which happens to be a Marriott sweet spot. Yes! A hotel sweet spot in Canada, it’s real and we booked it.
TownePlace Suites Belleville
The hotel features room with a fully-equipped kitchen, 2 queen-size beds, a small living area and a convenient bathroom.
The hotel is not even 8 years old. Still new, with complimentary breakfast, a nice swimming pool, small gym and a washer-dryer facility. The property is located in Belleville and is a 30-minute drive from the different island attractions (beaches, Picton, Wellington).
As a family or group you cannot ask for more. I will be issuing a review of the hotel.
Now for the sweet spot part. We paid 12,500 Marriott Bonvoy points per night. We booked a 3-night stay fora total of 37,500 reward points.
I consider this to be a sweet spot. The fact that it’s in Canada makes it even sweeter. Marriott has many sweet spot hotels across the world you can enjoy from long-term stay hotels to luxury hotels such as the Ritz-Carlton Doha I have reviewed (35K points per night).
Conclusion
Sweet spots in Canada are very hard to come by. The TownePlace Suites in Belleville, Ontario is definitely one. We will be staying there for second time and will generate some serious savings not only on the price of the stay but also on food: we will cook in the room kitchen on top the complimentary breakfast.
