AC Hotel Pisa convenience
Pisa is not known for its airport. However, it offers an interesting option to fly into Tuscany. AC Hotel by Marriott Pisa is less than 8 minute car-drive away convenient for those who fly in or out.
LOCATION
The hotel is located north of Pisa’s Galilei Galileo International Airport [PSA]. Although a rail shuttle is available, the Pisa Mover goes only to city’s Central station. The hotel is in the suburbs as shown on the map. Therefore, a taxi or a car rental is needed to get to the hotel address Via Delle Torri, 20.
You should definitely consider Pisa airport as a gateway to Tuscany. It’s a smaller airport and is located less than one hour drive to either Florence or the Tuscan seaside.
PARKING
Parking is free! I can imagine the doubtful look on your face, yes this is Europe but it is complimentary. We arrived with our rental car, parked in front of the main entrance and unloaded our bags. Then we parked the car in the open parking. The AC Hotel by Marriott Pisa is surrounded by a residential area, next to a small mall complex.
CHECK-IN
We got in after 8pm in summer. As a Gold member I did not expect much from Marriott Bonvoy. No breakfast coupons (there were 4 of us) while the front desk agent did his best. Less than 20 minutes later, check-in was done. That was fast!
The lobby and restaurant areas had been renovated and have a lot of sofas. It makes it pleasant to hang out in the lobby with the free wifi.
THE AC PISA HOTEL SUITE
Believe it or not we got upgraded! Many thanks to the front desk agent.
AC Hotel Pisa suite is well designed and practical. The living room features a sofa bed which the kids slept in. The TV screens in both the living room and bedroom could be larger. But again, this is Europe. Things are smaller and tighter.
A huge bathroom with 2 showers and a bathtub. Very comfortable and spacious when the whole family’s showering.
BREAKFAST
I’m only a Marriott Bonvoy Gold member. Therefore, breakfast came with a price tag. Expect to pay 12 Euros for breakfast buffet. Although small, the buffet features a large food spread.
HOW MUCH I PAID
The property’s rates hover at around 180 EUR/night. To say the least, it’s a bit high for a secondary city and a Marriott category 2 hotel.
However, it’s only 12,500 Marriott Bonvoy points/night. It’s a sweet spot in the lower category threshold, a deal to be had just like this Canadian sweet spot in Belleville, Ontario.
VERDICT
The hotel is conveniently located. We stayed there when we flew in and one night before flying out. Pisa is small, accessing the historical venues, malls and the airport from the hotel is really easy and quick.
