The lounge is one of the airline’s many lounges in Hamad International Airport. This review will show who can access it and what it’s like inside.

Location

The lounge is located on the second floor in the Duty Free Plaza South. You can refer to the airport Duty Free map.

Lounge Access

Qatar Airways has a clustered access to its Business class lounges. Therefore, factors such as class of travel & Elite status will define which lounge you get to visit. The Qatar Airways Business Class lounge is not Qatar Airways Al Mourjan Business Class lounge. You only get access to the latter if you’re flying Qatar Airways in Business Class.

Those who can access Qatar Airways Business Class lounge are:

• Qatar Airways Silver members;
• Qatar Airways Gold members;
• oneworld Sapphire.

The Lounge Amenities

Although relatively small, the lounge offers all of the amenities to make the experience enjoyable.

Free Wi-Fi is decent, showers are made available and cleaned by staff after each use. Also, a smoking room is available to serial smokers.

The family room is a great amenity. We were able to drop our bags, sit on comfortable sofas, unwind for a few minutes and go get food later on.

The food was ok. There was choice of 2 soups, a large salad spread and sandwichs. I would’ve liked to see a warm main course. A chicken biryani and veggies would’ve been just perfect. That’s something the lounge can work on.

Still, we were able to save easily $70 on food and drinks at the airport. That’s a good chunk of money we were able to put elsewhere.

Verdict

The lounge does the job. For a short 3 to 4 hour layover it’s perfect. You can bring along a guest (also up to 2 children). We enjoyed it: exclusive access to the family room, food was decent and it allowed us to unwind in a quieter setting.
