The RBC British Airways Visa Infinite card is one of many travel-branded Canadian cards. It has an interesting offer to those have specific purchase and reward behaviors.
Let’s look in detail what its benefits are like.
Sign-up bonus
Signing-up for the credit card will earn you up to 50,000 Avios in the following order:
✅ 15,000 welcome Avios;
✅ Another 25,000 Avios when you reach $5,000 in qualifying transactions in the first 3 months;
✅ Finally 10,000 bonus Avios when you renew after the first year.
That’s more than enough for a London-Lisbon return ticket for family of four (2 adults, 1 infant & 1 baby):
Companion ticket eVoucher
Members who reach the $30,000 spend level on their RBC British Airways Visa Infinite will receive One Companion Award eVoucher.
The eVoucher allows to purchase an award flight with a companion. Conditions do apply, the most important ones are that it only applies to British Airways flights (does not apply to AA, IB or FI) and has to originate from Canada.
British Airways flies to and from Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver. I wrote a detailed article on the RBC British Airways companion ticket that may be challenging to use out of Canada.
Using the Companion Award eVoucher for a Calgary-Dubai return flight will save a member 58,500 Avios. It’s basically a 2-for-1 deal. The same redemption without an eVoucher would’ve cost the member 117,000 Avios. However, BA’s fees are high.
Double avios on British Airways purchases
Members will earn 2 Avios per $1 CAD spent on British Airways and British Airways Holidays when the RBC British Airways Visa Infinite is used.
The miles are awarded on net purchases.
Also, on November of each year British Airways will double points on any purchase with the credit card. That means quadruple points on BA bookings.
10% off British Airways flights
For me, this is the best perk of the credit card. Members get a 10% discount on British Airways bookings. These have to be British Airways flights only.
So members have to make sure that there are no other partner carriers in the outbound and inbound flights. A promo-code must be typed. Every fall and winter, British Airways will send you the promotion offer with the code. See example below:

oneworld partner airlines rewards
British Airways is part of the oneworld alliance. Therefore, you can use your British Airways Avios on rewards flights on: American Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, LATAM, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Royal Jordanian, S7 Airlines and SriLankan Airlines.
There are some great redemption opportunities across the airlines network such as Tokyo to Doha in Business Class for $36.89 or fly across Japan for less than $4.
I personally flew Doha to Zurich in Business Class with Qatar Airways. A great reward flights I redeemed for a fraction of the retail price.
250 bonus Avios with Avis
Renting a car with Avis through the British Airways dedicated car rental site will earn you 250 Avios. But the best part is the free additional driver for Executive Club Members. Indeed, the second driver on the rental will not be charged.
Solid travel insurance
The travel insurance with the RBC British Airways Infinite card covers your household. The coverage includes 31 days out of province/country.
Conclusion
If you don’t have a monthly balance on your credit cards and your objective is to maximize points accrual for flight redemptions on the oneworld network then the RBC British Airways Visa Infinite is your best bet.
