This review was made possible thanks to the collaboration of the InterContinental Doha The City
Doha has many luxury hotels. I wanted to stay at a property that was both modern and well-designed. First of all, I looked at the overall city offering. Then I eliminated the hotels that did not age well. Finally, I discovered that there were 2 InterContinental properties. The InterContinental Doha The City caught my attention:
Location
The InterContinental Doha The City is located in the heart of West Bay, it’s Doha’s modern downtown area. A 25-minute taxi or Uber ride from Hamad International Airport (DOH) will get you to the property. Expect to pay around Rial 50 (C$18) for a taxi . There are a few malls around the hotel including City Centre Mall and the luxury Gate Mall. Also, you can access the Corniche for a great evening walk.
Check-in
Check-in was swift and efficient. I received a warm welcome, presented my passport and credit card. Then the front desk agent escorted me to the elevator, gave me my keycard and wished me a great stay. Honestly, I could not ask for a more efficient and smooth check-in experience.

The Suite
My room was on the 44th floor. The design of the hallway featured a mix of marble, wood and carpet. The decor felt minimalist while providing me with a sense of luxury and intimacy.

Breakfast
Located on the 2nd floor, The Square restaurant is where breakfast is served. It’s a square-shaped restaurant, which features a rich multinational buffet. You can choose to mix or have exclusively a French, Arabic, Thai or Indian breakfast. I had an Arabic & Thai breakfast. The food was very tasty and the staff very attentive.
Facilities
The hotel features a beautiful exterior infinite swimming pool on the top floor. The fitness club, lockers and jacuzzi are on the same floor. The swimming pool is quite intimate. It can easily fit families playing with kids and guests who want to swim laps.
Verdict
You cannot visit Doha and not stay at this hotel. It’s a full-service luxury property, centrally-located and gives you a lot of value for your money. Even more, InterContinental Hotels always deliver a consistent luxury product wherever you go. I reviewed the InterContinental Warsaw and it delivered.
Doha is a great layover city to discover. If you’re flying on Qatar Airways then your visa is free on arrival. Also, there’s no better property if you are a couple and want to enjoy a city staycation. Above all, the InterContinental Doha The City will impress and seduce you like it did with me.
